I have 5 hens who will be 3 next month. I would like to inintroduce a Cock for a short period of time for breeding purposes. Any thoughts or susuggestions would be really appreciated

Chickens aren't like cows and horses and dogs where you can just bring in a sperm donor and get the job done.

Hens can be brutal on an unfamiliar rooster. They prefer to be inseminated by a rooster they know and trust. Bringing a roo in for a "short period" is going to be hard on all concerned. The hens likely won't be happy about it, and the poor rooster may not even be allowed near any of them.

As he attempts to mount one hen, she may put up such an objection, the other four will thrash the daylights out of the poor fellow. There is a small chance the girls will be complacent, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Bearing in mind azygous’ expert comments, if you do decide to introduce a rooster, integrate him as you would a new hen. Ie within the same coop but separated with chicken wire for example so they cannot fight and cause injury. Try feeding treats together so they socialise and get to know each other over a period of a few days. Then put him on the roost with the girls during darkness. I hope all goes smoothly :fl

Oh, this just hit my funny bone :gig.
But 'tis true indeed.

Depends on the cockbird, he may be savvy and woo them to submission right off the bat.......and the hens, they may be 'ready'.
Bringing a cock for 'short time'(studding) is rarely done AFAIK.
It's risky as he could also bring pests and disease and/or take some back with him.

What is your goal?
To reproduce those hens in particular?
Will you use an incubator?
Is there a reason you don't have a male already?
Do you have a plan for the multiple males(~50%) a hatch will produce?
