I have two older chickens one lays regularly and the second one has stoped laying at all. Have decided to keep the non layer as we are reluctant to dispose of such a faithful family pet for the children’s sake.
Decided to introduce a new pullet as only one laying and we really only wanted two laying for the family was enough.
They have a small free range area and we split it in half at the beginning as the original two kept attacking the new one.
This is still happening as we introduce them every day but are still attacking and continuing holding her down and going for her neck. The three are Hy-Line brown and the new pullet is the same size as them.
I don’t like leaving the new one on its own all the time but am fearful they will kill it. What else can I do?
