We have 28 Buff Orpington hens and 1 rooster that are six months old. We were given two Cuckoo Maran roosters that are about a year old. The roosters are enclosed in their own pen inside our chicken yard. They can see/interact with our current flock. How long should we keep them separated?

Well, probably you should have quarantined them for a month or so to make sure they didnt have anything that your flock would catch

but seeing as they have already been in close proximity, a week or so should be sufficient. Be prepared to see fighting and maybe some blood too. You might have to separate them again. They will need to make their very own pecking order and as long as you have lots of space for the underlings to get away you shouldnt have too many problems with that many hens. HTH--Terri O
