Not sure if this is the right area to post this question but I let one of my silkies hatch out a few eggs. Now I’m wondering when can I let her and her two chicks back with the rest of the flock. I’m not in a rush but am curious. The flock I would add them too ranges from 1.5 month olds to 6 month olds. They are a combination of silkies and also standard hens and roosters in that group.

generally the hen can protect them enough that it is ok to integrate. Where she is a smaller silkie though I would try to do so under close supervision at first to make sure the standard hands are not getting any weird ideas

Ok we will try in a week once the weather is more consistent.
also she has been in a separate part of the barn but the one corner is a snow fence so that all the other chickens can see her. The plan was that she would be safe from them but hopefully together enough so they don’t forget her.

I separate my broodies right in the coop with a wire wall.
Then take wall down about a week after hatch...and observe.
Can be a chicken rodeo until mama gets her bearings.
