(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am very new to chickens. So new, I don't even have any yet! And, I need to build them a home. I don't have a coop ready.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We are planning a cross country adventure so I just can't see buying chicks before we have a home ready for them and I sure wouldn't want them to try to take care of themselves for three weeks, mid-summer.
(3) What breeds do you have?
As stated, I have none right now. I'm not sure what type would be good layers and good to eat when they finish laying so I'm reading everything I can!
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found BYC through an internet search for chicken coop plans, preferably free plans. I'm gathering free pallets and I am looking for free roofing. I have a long way to go. I want the coop to be the best home I can build for the chick chicks.
Well, I don't plan to have the chick chicks as a hobby. We need the eggs and I am a strong believer in pet responsibility. Don't have one if you don't plan to take care of it! As far as hobbies, I do enjoy going to antique malls, fairs and sales. I don't have much money to spend, but it is very relaxing and the walking is good exercise.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Ah, my precious family. One Hubby, one daughter, one son, one son-in-love, two grandchildren and they have the one dog. I got laid off back in 2003 and haven't been employed since. I love God, his son Jesus, and depend daily on the Holy Spirit. I have not yet achieved perfection but I work toward it. Often I fail but Jesus is my advocate before my Heavenly Father. I can't wait for Jesus's return! Oh, to meet him in the air. And, I can't wait to see my heavenly mansion! What fabulousness! What wonder! What magnificence!!!
