Hello all, I'm from Beane's mini-farm in Texas. My little family farm shelters chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and a peacock (thats just the bird side)! Most have names and can be hand held. They have slowly came to me from unwanted homes. I'll be looking for some "mates" for several that need a friend, as well as trying to find others that are looking to find their pets "friends" (my Texas Brown Turkeys--Half Pence and Mr. Turkey Shillins--have had seven babies).
Thanks...I'm not sure how many chickens and the kinds I have...probably over 50 of them...they all run around loose at my farm except for a few that don't get along with the rest or are too big to seek shelter at night in the trees. But then that's just the chickens...I also have 6 grey geese, 1 big white male goose, a dozen or so Muskovey (spelling probably wrong) ducks, 4 brown ducks that have a variety of markings, 9 brown turkeys, and one female peacock. Inside my house I have a rescued male Brown Turtle Dove and a male Macaw that both fly around loose along with several other types of animals. All total I probably have over a 100 rescued animals of a variety of species.
Thanks for the "glad you joined"...I'm really enjoying BYC website and all the info...should be online building my math courses...got sidetracked here when I decided to look up what kind of chicken I have. Been trying to get "Haggard" a hen, but all my bigger females have been rejected by him (he tries to attack them--lucky they can hop up on a perch and he is too big to get off the ground). I've introduced all the "loose" hens to him that I have, so now I'm trying to find a hen more like him...extra large and fat.
