So we have 4 -- 9 week old pullets who have been well established in their coop/ run for 4 weeks now. They also have free range of our fenced yard for a few hours in the morning and few hours im evening. My husband has decided we should get a couple more.
So i have found close by some 8 week old pullets- we are going to go look tomorow. She has easter eggers, delewares, speckled sussex, and buff orpingtons.
# 1- is this a good age to add two new comers? Or should we stick with the 4 we have?
#2- is there one of these 4 breeds that are known to be more freindly than the others? So as to make the introductions go smoother?
Or is it pretty easy to mix this age of birds?
I dont want to ruin a good thing. My 4 get along so well and i dont want any hurt chicks! Thanks
Oh and my current breeds if it makes a difference are
1 - ancona
1- partridge rock
1- red sex link
1- black sex link

Since they are about the same age, they will be about the same size, so no worries there. There will be pecking order fights, unless someone starts bleeding, let them sort things out. The main question is do you have a big enough coop to add more?

okay thank u! Yes i cant remember all the square footage and that but when we first built it all i measured everything out and the coop has room for 2-3 more. And the run as well. Althought they are out so much during the day im not too worried about the run.
We wont be getting any more that 2 if we do
