I'd like to get my daughter involved in 4H or something-- we are up in maine. Does anybody know of any good groups?

I'm not sure what all the different groups are.

We had a show in Stockton last month and my 5 year old grand daughter is still bugging me about showing. I did pick up fliers, but can't seem to remember where I put them. Wasn't FFA or 4H. Hopefully someone will come in and know more than I do about the shows.

Some of the chicks I have hatching right now are from a raffle I won while we were there. I'm looking into the brooder right now, trying to figure out what everyone is. LOL All of them are Marans.

We are working on our coop today after reading some of the cold weather coop pages and ideas. Some things I had not realized, so we are fixing them (size of perches, etc.) It's very exciting. So, since y'all are enablers, we are looking for four more laying hens to buy as tiny babies and we are also thinking of bring along some la fleche if we can find them eventually.

For our last four laying hens, does anybody have suggestions? The hens don't have to be super ;laying machines. We will have plenty of eggs regardless. But we do want a breed that will be cold hardy and also fun for my daughter (age 11) to bring up.
