Hey guys (and gals):
My name is Jack. My wife and I are living in central Louisiana. A great place to raise chickens. I surprised her this past Monday by telling her that I had a project in the shop that required sensitive temperature control and asked her to check on it for me to make sure that it was at 90 degrees. She asked the essential woman questions which I deflected and finally had to just demand that she go check on it. About 10 minutes later she came in crying and hugged me til my eyes bugged out. (choke...choke...cough)
Anyway, we have 12 new RIRs about two weeks old (still got the fuzzy butt) and they are now living, not in the shop, but in the spare bedroom. It was 24 the night before last, and she wouldn't have them out there even thought the temp was right for them. I am about to go to the big blue box and get materials to make a small hutch for them til they transition to a coop and yard that I will build when the weather is warmer...about late February. Any suggestions for keeping the hutch ckl, ckl, cklean and sanitized? I hear a bleach reciepe will work. Is that right and what is the formula?

Welcome!!

I don't know about the sanitizing, but someone on here will respond soon, I'm sure.

Jenn is right, it's addicting here.

Welcome,

Fantastic way you let your wife know, excellent.

You will both be addicted very soon,

Enjoy your new future as a chickoholic.

Jena.

You could get a small scrap of sheet vinyl from the box store and put that in the bottom of the hutch. With the vinyl a little soap and water will clean it right up without having to use bleach.
