Introducing New Bird

I'm getting a dove from a friend of my mom. She doesn't know the age or gender but she said she thinks it's young. My dove is about 9 weeks old.

I know that doves can start laying eggs at the age of 6 months. If I put the doves together and the new one is a male and mine is a female will the new dove try to mate with her?
Also, if they're both males will they get along?

They will fight at first. I think they'll get along fine though.

They are going to fight and maybe injure each other badly, if you just put them together straight away.. I had that happen with one of mine and she nearly lost her eye.

Put them in 2 cages next to each other.. so they can see each other.. for about one week. Then start letting them fly about free in your room.. So they can get to know each other at a distance. and can fly away if one gets bullied.

If they get on fine after a few days you can then put them in the same cage.

If you have 2 adult males.. they may always fight... and need to be housed on their own.
