We had 2 ducks and the female died yesterday. We are going to look at 3 10mth old females today but im concerned how our lone male will take to 3 new birds. Also the place we're getting them from wants us to take their male. Will this be too much for our bird? If we do get them all do we keep them seperate for a bit like with chickens? Or just put them together to figure it all out? Thanks

Defiantly separate for a week or so to be sure no one is sick.

3 hens is not enough for 2 drakes. And the drakes will likely fight, and continue to fight because of bad ratio.Do you have to take the drake? Can you just take the 3 hens,or at least 2 hens and leave 1 hen with their drake that they have?

You can see how just putting them together works,if things are too severe (Which they usually don't get that bad...),but if it does,a separate cage for new animals would work.A week of seeing through a fence would work.

Ducks are normally no where as near as bad as chickens when it comes to introducing new birds...... Just put them together and they will usually accept each other pretty quickly.

Good luck with your new birds :)...... and I'm sorry for your loss :(
