A couple of weeks ago we lost Effie to an unknown predator, so our Magpie "Stinky" has been an only duck (with one turkey and 20+ chickens). I since have bought three new ducklings. Do ducks establish a pecking order like chickens, or is it safe to introduce them to Stinky? Being that it has finally started getting warmer, and I'm tired of having three ducks in the living room, I would like to move them to the outside.

Ducks do establish an order, similar to chickens. How old and what gender is Stinky? I hatched 8 ducklings in the bator last year and started let them range when they were several weeks old. Our drake (their father) would chase them all around and pull their down out, it was not fun. It took weeks for them to fully integrate. Seeing as Stinky is alone he/she may welcome the company. Just watch them really carefully when you do put them together. Make sure the babies have a place they can hide if they need to.

Oh and congrats on the ducklings

Stinky is almost 4 months old. I was told since he has a raspy voice, he is probably a boy.
