Hello everyone, I have 1 Rhode Island Red (rooster) and 2 light Brahms’s. They are around 18 weeks old and they free range from 7am-8pm only time they come back to there coop is to eat and then we put them up at night to sleep. Now on to the new flock, I have 2 americanas and a bantam frizzle Cochin (rooster) we have a large chicken house with a run so during that the day I put my little chicks out I. The run to spend the day while the big chickens graze. How do I go about slowly introducing them? Makes me little scared because our rir can be little aggressive I’m also waiting till they get some height on them to fully release them.

Thanks

We make a separate pen within our larger run so they little ones can be seen by the bigger birds but are protected (with their own food and water of course). We then bring them into the barn or garage for the night. After a few days when the larger birds have lost interest we put them in the coop together for the night then they are one flock from then on. I have no idea why being together at night works for us, but so far so good. Our rooster isn't super aggressive though.

Thank you so much, I keep them in the chicken run all day for the bigger chickens to see and watch them all day.
