Our rooster died. We have coyotes and other preditors so we got two roosters. They are about 4 months old. The hens are all 6 months and older. Should we seperate the roosters for awhile until they mature? The hens are pecking them and the roosters are running scared. Is it possible if left together the roosters could be at the bottom of the pecking order perminately? Thank

I would leave them together, your roosters will find their courage in the next month or two, exactly when your hens will actually want rooster attention, your young roosters will have to earn their way to the top, not just taking it. Just make sure your roosters have ways to get away and are allowed access to food and water.

Yes, I'd leave them. They will eventually be the flock masters - after they've earned it. Hens that are a bit older will also teach them some manners too. In the meantime, make sure they have the means to get away from the more dominant birds until they can hold their own.
