This is an update of my previous post...

We have 2 ducks, however 1 of them passed away last week. So we got a new duckling to accompany the other duck, whom we were told was female but is a Pekin and has a curvy tail leaving with the doubt that she may be a male. Anyway, today we tried to introduce the new duckling ( she is a muscovy) whom we were told was female to the Pekin. However our Pekin reacted badly, and tried to eat some of the duckling's feathers and after she was put back in the coop started behaving strangely, almost as if nervous (the duckling was outside of the coop, and they were looking at each other). What could be happening? Our Pekin is very territorial so could this be why she behaved so aggresively?

Now when you say that you think your Pekin is a male do you have a picture of the tail curl and how old? Also how old is the duckling? Honestly I have never had a new duck introduction not end without some form aggression. It's just how ducks are. Any new addition is going to end up picked on to establish pecking order and that's even if they have been able to see each other without touching prior to being put in the same area. That being said, a young female duckling should not be around an adult drake until fully grown and even then I would not have only a single female with most Drake's (there are outlier Drake's that are calm gentleman and do fine with a single hen, but it's pretty rare).

Our pekin is approximately 20 months old and the new duckling is actually quite yonug, we think a couple weeks or at most a couple months.

Our Pekin's last companion was a male muscovy who was around a year older than her/him. I can send a picture of her/his tail curl.

Our male muscovy would hiss and bob his head up and down as lot. Recently, we've noticed a similar behaviur with our duckling. She still chirps, but sometimes we hear a slight hiss. Could this mean she is a male?

Do you also have a picture of the new duckling? With ducks there is a very big difference between a couple week old duckling and one that's a few months especially when it comes to introducing it to other ducks.

We actually got our Pekin as a companion duck for our Muscovy. His companion duck (another male his same age) had passed away and our Pekin was a year younger than our Muscovy. When she/he was introduced, he wasn't violent. He actually ran away from her (she was introduced as a very young duckling around a couple days old). Eventually he stopped fearing her and they became friends although we as a bit of a bully with her/him at times.
