Laying in the same nest is common. I think they figure if one likes that spot it must be the best...LolThank you. Sounds like yr pretty experienced with Silkies. Could u advise? We have 4 Roos - they all seem to get along ok but one is a bit mean so may have to depart. However, one of the 3 girls is on her egg and clearly waiting for a chick in about 17 days time (not that I'm counting)Thinking we should put a little box inside the chick house for her to delegate her from others whilst keeping her in sight of them. Other girls wanna lay in same nesting box she's in! Don't think chick will survive with all of them. Best to superstar mum n chick til it can fend for itself? What d ya think? Grateful for help here.
Additionall boxes may help, but if you can put mom and little in a separate section of the coop, but where she can still interact with the others thru a fence, you'll keep them safe but have less trouble putting them back together when the chick is bigger.
