Introducing..

another TN!! Hi.

I had an appaloosa horse that died just this past winter

he was 23. I left him with my sister in NY when we moved, But I was sent pics all the time and movies of him. I was looking forward to seeing him this June when i go up to visit. It still breaks my heart he, was born on our farm when I was 6 and was my horse from that moment on. I just felt at that age the move would have been to much. He did die happy on the land he was born on so I feel good about that.

Maybe we will meet sometime too. I would love to meet some BYCers

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I know that with my mare being 31 I'm on borrowed time with her. My saddlebred gelding died 6 years ago at the age of 37, so I'm hoping we'll have a few more years with her.

Isn't it amazing how fetching these little quail are?! I LOVE my six and can't wait to get a few more. (I say a FEW, but I know what it'll turn into...at least 50 or so...

) Now if I can just convince DH to build quail cages when he's done with the coop....

ETA: Yes, I'd love to meet up with some fellow BYCers!! All the swaps and such have been a bit far for me as yet, so hopefully something closer can be organized and we can all get together and swap eggs, birds, stories and whatnot!

lol Thief pouters are a breed or cross of pouters (usually spanish, dutch or scottish types) used to seduce and capture your nieghboors pouter. They are housed alone so they are extra ready to find a mate. They have a higher drive to "git-r-done" than most pigeons. In places that play this "game"(Cuba, Spain,Scotland, The Hague, Miami and Argentina) If you capture your nieghboors pouter it is now yours. Most will meet at a shop and sell the captured pouter. In places where we dont have pigeon neighboors (like most of the US) we try to catch wild pigeons or set up boxes at opposite ends of the property.

That is quite possibly the coolest story behind a bird name that I've heard yet. Thanks for sharing!!! I'm off to read more....

Welcome to the other side of BYC Once you start posting in this forum, there is no turning back! I don't think I ever post anything 'chicken' related anymore!!

I live in So. Central KY with my father and 4 y/o son. I have been divorced for over 10 years (thank GAWD

). I have 3 sons total: 14, 12, and 4; but only the baby lives with me. I am a 'stay-at-home' mom, taking online college classes to become a CPA (eventually).

I currently have 36 coturnix quail of various colors, 16 button quail, 2 parlor roller pigeons, and way too many chickens to count! We also have a pot belly pig(Horton) and 2.5 dogs (one of them was 'traded' to my dad by my 4 y/o for a puppy, but I still claim her as mine. Unfortunately, so does my dad

). The dogs are GSD (1-Baby), Beagle mix (1-Cutie Pie), and Beagle (.5-Midget

).
Oh yeah, and I also have 5 guineas, 2 buffs and 3 buff dundottes. My dad is giving me one of his game hens to trade with a friend for a very very dark guinea hen

So then I will have 3 pairs

Oh, and I am 33, B-day is also my 'member since' date

Oh my!! How could I forget my ducks? I have 7 pekins, 6 rouens, and 3 cayugas. Plus a baby from my flock that looks like a cayuga/rouen mix
