Hello,

I've lurked around for a while and got some great info from the board.

My family now has a a flock twice the size we intended! 16 birds!

(4) New Hampshire Reds
(4) Black Sex Link
(4) Barred Rock
(2) Aracuna
(2) Buff Oprington

Birds are doing great and their out in the new coop after 6 weeks.

Coop is 4x8 (wish I made it a bit bigger...) and just designed it as I went. Siding is all vinyl (was left over from when we had the house built 7 years ago). Window was picked up free on the side of the road.

Thanks for the kind comments!

Not meaning to second guess - but I totally messed up my math on my coop - for some reason I got in my head that a 4 X 8 was 48 sq feet and then an 8 X 8 would be 96 sq feet. Well, I realized the error of my ways and am now planning a 12 X 12.

Yours does look really nice - I like how it matches the house.

Beautiful coop! I sure would not have thought you designed it as you went along or recycled stuff.

Edited to add: Welcome to BYC and the end of your lurking. Glad to have you join us.

We had planned on a flock of 8, which at 4sqft/bird=32sqft

But...
we were told to plan on some dying... none died.
we were told to plan on 15% being roo's... no roos.
then my wife ordered them and thought "blue/green eggs would be cool" and we got 2 more...
