Introduction DigChickens

Hi everyone,
Although we talked about getting chickens for years we got our first 2 Buff Orpingtons in March; we are hooked. Went back 2 weeks later and picked up 2 Black Austrolops; our first four chicks turned 4 months yesterday. They are doing really well!

On June 8th I picked up 6 Lavender Orpington chicks that were born June 5th. Cannot believe how cute they are! I read to put a feather duster in there cage as a surrogate hen; thought I would try it. All 6 chicks sleep under it religiously. So cute.

Orps are such a great breed! My Black Australorps have always been the focus of my flock, they are quite hardy birds, they deal with cold and heat well, rarely have as many health issue as the other breeds and super friendly too. All of my Orps are big babies, lap warmers!

I too use a feather duster in my brooder for the first few weeks.
I raise it as they grow bigger.

That is so sweet they like their surrogate mama (feather duster)
