Hi all 
New chicken mom here, with ten sweet little Buff Orpington chickies in a box in our living room, being enjoyed by four little human chickies. I have wanted backyard chickens forever, and with the meat shortages figured it was a good a time as any to get the ball rolling for independent egg production. I am the person that says I'm not an animal person but lives in a zoo. Two old cats died this year 
so now we're down to one dog and one cat, and I'm resisting replenishing the hamsters. I like pretty much all country grandma hobbies (I'm 40) - I knit, crochet, sew, garden, read, hike, bake, am learning how to can food while I'm learning how to be a chicken mom. I had a premade coop selected I was going to buy, but now I'm debating building one and researching plans for a build, still undecided.
I have two teenagers, a five year old, and a toddler who is the boss of all of us.
