Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock! BYC is a helpful site providing all of the information you need to know about poultry. There is always space for members on the BYC roost! I wouldn't keep the Speckled Sussex separated from the flock, keeping her isolated too long will cause the other flock members to forget her and integration will be a serious problem. Instead, keep one of the bullies isolated and all of the chickens will turn their attention on her and not the sussex. Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!

Hello, and welcome! I see that you have one of those fabricated coops. I think that when those type say good for 3 to 4 chicken's, that they mean if those chicken's are of a smaller breed and not the larger ones.

Crowded chickens act out by pecking, feather plucking and in extreme cases cannibalism.

Coops like the one in the picture are not long lived. Maybe you can find some reclaimed wood and start on a new one that is a bit bigger--4 or so square feet peer chicken--bigger for bigger breeds

Welcome to BYC. 'Winter boredom' may have been the initial problem, and now due to her time away from the flock she is viewed as a stranger. I'd try a divided pen introducing the least aggressive birds to her one at a time over a significant period of time. Also applying Pin Less Peepers to the most aggressive birds would be a help.
