Introduction

We plan to do this adopt a chick thing from a website my wife found.
Cool... is that like rescuing hens from a production farm? Or I've heard of this new business that's like renting chickens for the spring and summer...? Or will you be getting little chicks to raise and keep?
Best wishes in your new chicken adventure!

Already bought a coop, but still need to assemble it. We plan to do this adopt a chick thing from a website my wife found.
Uh oh! Not a pre-fab!
Please, please go to the articles and read up on coops. You will regret using a pre-fab. They are tiny, hard to work in (read: hard to clean) and flimsy. Your birds will need much more space than they offer. Especially in a hot climate.
Converting an old shed into a coop is pretty easy if you're not handy and can't build from scratch.
Good luck!

Unfortunately, I am not particularly handy. I lack a lot of the tools I'd need to build one from scratch.

It's some website that sells chicks, and I guess the adopt a chick option is the ones that would likely be culled otherwise.

Hi @no fly zone you have no idea how I wish I was moving to the gulf side of Florida, we moved from FL to Wyoming a few years ago and I'm so missing the weather there.

Be sure to check out the Florida state thread (Pork Pie gave you a link around the 1st page of these greetings).

Best of luck with your move and getting into chickens, it's an interesting and fun hobby!
