Hello everyone!
I'm not very internet thread savvy, normally just a lurker so hope I'm doing this right. My parents started with a small flock of 4 chickens when I was finishing up school, that was longer ago than I care to admit. I've been living next door to an established flock of 20 plus, who visit me for treats every day. Knowing how chickens have a pecking order, I held off on getting any of my own. We recently bought the property across the street and I got my chicks.
I let my nieces pick the chicks, and I'm not sure the breeds of 2 of them. I have 2 khaki Campbell ducks(Rufus and Quackers), a chocolate Orrington (Henrietta), a black australorp (Brat, let my nieces name her and the ducks), what I thought was supposed to be a cornish cross, and maybe a black copper marans (Wilhelmena). They are all around 12 weeks. The cornish cross (Martha Ann) is not as big as what a cornish cross should be at this age and she's still able to fly. The marans was always slightly bigger than the others and now she is huge compared to them.
I added a bronze turkey poult (Kevin) after finding him alone at the feed store, and picked up a rhode island red chick to keep him company (Ruby), they are about 6 weeks and haven't merged with the larger birds yet. I recently added an Ameracuana rooster (Peppe) who is also around 12/13 weeks.
Obviously I enjoy talking about my chickens, and have really appreciated all the information shared on threads here.
