Hi! We are Pam and John Rivera from Nebraska. We live in a small town in a new development area. I bought six hen chicks, 2 leghorns and 4 bantams for eggs. They are in my bathtub with a heat lamp until the chicken coop gets built. I'm looking for a design that will accommodate six laying hens. Something really basic as we don't have a lot of money to spend. Looking forward to being in the group.

check out the coop sections for ideas plans and photos. It is also very popular to build ghetto coops - using repurposed materials, large appliance(stove, fridge, etc.) shipping crates, Little Tykes play houses usually for cheap on Craig's list,- sometimes people are giving away used coops, kennel runs etc. Chickens aren't fussy.
