Introverted Duck?

I’ve never had a duck go off and hang out by itself even my Muscovy that are pretty independent compared to my Runners and Buffs usually hang out in the same area. If one of mine started this I’d be concerned something was wrong. I hope it’s what every is saying and she just likes being alone.

I think she has vision problems. My dogs can get really close to her before she reacts and I can too. The ducks came off the lake for bed but she was still out there by herself. I am putting her by herself at night, but she can still see the other ducks, and all the poop next to her pen this morning makes me think they slept next to her! I weighed her this morning and she weighs 2 pounds 2 ounces.

I am not sure about her weight but having her where you can keep an eye on her is a good idea. Maybe you can test her eye site while you have her separated put something she really loves close and then further away until she can’t find it. If she can’t. It would be one way to test her eye site.

That’s a good idea. She did play with a long piece of grass that is sticking through the wire of her pen. It’s weird what she responds to and what she doesn’t respond to.

Cricket flew over the fence to go to the lake by herself again today! :barnie I let the other ducks out and they ran to greet her, and she was quacking for them and excited to see them. This duck is a mystery to me!
Maybe you should call her Jonathan Livingston Duck.
