Iowa Blues - Breed thread and discussion

I think merchandizing will be coming this year as the club begins to take dues (which is a necessary evil when contemplating doing anything you need a bank account for, lol). Will be fun to come up with designs and the like. Will have to decide if it is something the club wants to do as a stocked item vs. putting designs up for people to order on their own like on Cafe Press. I'm pretty sure their prices have gone up in recent time, used to be fairly reasonable though the quality of the shirts were hokey.

Otherwise the club needs enough funds to float the order until they are paid for or it would have to be a preorder/prepaid type of thing.

Perhaps something to talk about at the club meeting or to organize a committee following elections. :)

Okay, so I'm a dunderhead and I've probably overlooked the info, but please somebody let me know when the results of elections will be made known.

And can anyone start a conversation that will attract some participation? It's the holidays but maybe we could have a topic to discuss just to keep the interest up.

IBC, where you been bro?

I think the EIPA show had many members of this thread doing communication outside of this thread

. We really wished we could have gone, but I would like to know what happened with judging and the club meeting when someone can update?

Election results are on posted on the website. They were just posted a few minutes ago. Poor Connie was having computer trouble lastnight and it caused some complications on getting our website updated. She'll get more about the elections and the EIPA show once everything gets sorted out technilogically.

Gota run quick, but I should be on later to give some updates on how things have been going!

I've got a notice up on the site, but due to some computer issues, I haven't been able to put a big splash out yet. This weekend I'll be doing a major overhaul to the website. :)

The EIPA show was a good time, great meeting, and a really fun raffle. Again, as soon as I get a computer complication resolved, I'll get more info up!

Sorry for the delay. Computers have the best timing. :)

So, this past two weeks have been very busy for the Iowa Blues and our club. The EIPA show is completed and we had a great time at our club booth. Much interest was generated for the breed and we met some really neat people.

Some of the feedback that we recieved was to have an area on our website that would be a "members only" section. In this section would be found meeting agendas, meeting mintues, information that is club specific and is best kept within the club membership and not "open to the world", a forum connection where some of the club descussion can take place without the eyes of millions of non-club individuals, and many other perks. So, in light of that, we are planning on creating (or rather Connie is planning on setting up for us) an interactive section of the website for our members to enjoy the intimate details of the club and it's activities.

That is not to say that we will not be active on this thread, but rather, some of the conversations we've become use to will most likely be carried on within the structure of the membership only portion of the site. Personally, I find this will be a better option as there have been some situations where individuals outside of our club group have used information from this thread against some of the membership as well as copyright infringements. It's unfortunate, but there are people out there so seem to "make a living" out of stirring the pot.

Please forgive us for our less than active roles within the thread as of late.

Between the need to have our members feel confident that their thoughts and ideas can be expressed within the safety of the club group and the recent preparations for the show, things have slowed down a bit on this thread.

I also want to let everyone know that come the next few months the club will be roling out some Committees to help handle the opportunities of the club as well as to allow more of our members the option to become active in decision making roles. So, keep your eyes out for those as well. If any of the Committees are of interest to you, be sure to reach out to the club leadership and they'll do their best to get you involved! With a new club, there is always so much "start up" work to do, and so the more we can spread out those responsibilites, while at the same time empowering the membership to shape and direct the club, the stronger and healthier our club wil be. Each and every member of this club has unique talents, the key is to unleash those talents and interests and to let people do what they are good at doing. :)

This upcoming year looks to be a promising year for the membership, the club, and the breed. Keep up the good work everyone and remember that it won't be long and our usual dialog will be back up and running.

@IowaBlueCurt : in addition to a newsletter, has anyone considered merchandising? I, for one, would like a t-shirt &/or a baseball cap with a IaB on it & was thinking the IBCC logo would be great to use.
If granted permission to use it, maybe could come up with some "prototypes"
In a foretaste of what's to come, the club will be setting up a Promotion Committee that will handle all things related to promoting the breed and organizing club booths at shows. I think merchandising is a great idea! You should consider joining that committee when it is rolled out Candy. :)

FYI- Anyone interested in getting active with one of the committees will be required to be an active member of the club.
