So, this past two weeks have been very busy for the Iowa Blues and our club. The EIPA show is completed and we had a great time at our club booth. Much interest was generated for the breed and we met some really neat people.
Some of the feedback that we recieved was to have an area on our website that would be a "members only" section. In this section would be found meeting agendas, meeting mintues, information that is club specific and is best kept within the club membership and not "open to the world", a forum connection where some of the club descussion can take place without the eyes of millions of non-club individuals, and many other perks. So, in light of that, we are planning on creating (or rather Connie is planning on setting up for us) an interactive section of the website for our members to enjoy the intimate details of the club and it's activities.
That is not to say that we will not be active on this thread, but rather, some of the conversations we've become use to will most likely be carried on within the structure of the membership only portion of the site. Personally, I find this will be a better option as there have been some situations where individuals
outside of our club group have used information from this thread against some of the membership as well as copyright infringements. It's unfortunate, but there are people out there so seem to "make a living" out of stirring the pot.
Please forgive us for our less than active roles within the thread as of late.
Between the need to have our members feel confident that their thoughts and ideas can be expressed within the safety of the club group and the recent preparations for the show, things have slowed down a bit on this thread.
I also want to let everyone know that come the next few months the club will be roling out some Committees to help handle the opportunities of the club as well as to allow more of our members the option to become active in decision making roles. So, keep your eyes out for those as well. If any of the Committees are of interest to you, be sure to reach out to the club leadership and they'll do their best to get you involved! With a new club, there is always so much "start up" work to do, and so the more we can spread out those responsibilites, while at the same time empowering the membership to shape and direct the club, the stronger and healthier our club wil be. Each and every member of this club has unique talents, the key is to unleash those talents and interests and to let people do what they are good at doing.
This upcoming year looks to be a promising year for the membership, the club, and the breed. Keep up the good work everyone and remember that it won't be long and our usual dialog will be back up and running.
