It's good to hear Gandalf is handing in there. It can be a tough decision whether to put them down or not....it can be hard to tell how much pain they are in. Keep us posted on his recovery.

are they all broody?
A couple of weeks ago, I went down to the barn to find this beautiful sight. The ladies have really been busy right now and this picture proves they mean business.
They are all lovely!I'm well pleased with this group of birds. They've got great substance and size. It's easy to see the depth of breast and fulness of the abdomen. I'm excited to watch these birds finish maturing out. The oldest are around 10 months old, the youngest (including the cockerel) are 7 months old. I've got a lot of willow legs in this new bunch, but I've got a few slate legs in there too so it shouldn't take too long to get that culled out. They sure are fun to watch as they do about their business.
are they all broody?![]()
thats wonderful! My 3 Iowa girls are good for about 5 eggs each a week during the warmer weather. No, I see that the way I worded it makes it sound like they were broody. I had 7 eggs out of 8 pullets that day. They've been shelling out the eggs like crazy, so it's been fun to see those nesting boxes full of hens.
So am I the only one showing birds again?![]()
