is 25$ a lot for a chicken?

i found some orpington hens for sale they are different colors. he is asking 25$ per hen is this a lot or is it a good price? i think i am going to buy 6 but i do not know if i am getting ripped off i really want them

IMO I wouldn’t pay that much for a hen, but I’m cheap and don’t need to. Chicks at a supply store run $2-3 each.

If they are young, as in 1 yr old, and laying, they may be worth it. If they are 2+ years, they will be worth a lot less.

How old? I bought my Lavender Orpingtons from a local breeder @ 6 weeks for $5 each. That seems pretty high, but if they're older pullets/young hens that are laying or show quality I wouldn't think that's unheard of.

Are they old english ? It really depends on the hen. If it is a rare color or good quality then $25. isnt a lot. However , if you never had chickens before I would start smaller.

WOW you guys have cheeeeeep chicken prices around you!!! the average laying he under 2 goes for $30!! rare breeds lik lavender Orpingtons go for $40 and upwards for under 2!
