Is 4 years too old for meat?

Chilli definitely does!

Mmmm...I like to make "white chili" with the older chickens since the meat holds up better to 2 days of slow coooking.

Slow cook them in the crock pot all day with some onions and salt and pepper and save all the liquid so it's a delicious broth...then refridgerate...next day debone, add white beans (like great northern beans) cilantro, and can of creamed corn (makes it thicker) and I cheat and buy packets of "white chili" mix to add I think at Wal Mart...let that go all day again...and make some corn bread....mmm...I have one RIR roo still in the freezer...I think I need to go start me some chicken chili!

It's not real spicy and heart burn prone friendly since chicken isn't greasy like beef...but still oh so delicious!

Wow that sounds good!

Oh it is! I'll be eating chili tomorrow night the way I make it, but it's SO worth it!

I might just have to copy down your recipe! I don't like spicy food per se and it sounds like it would be perfect for my set up. mhmhm

Feel free

If you can't find the seasoning packets (white chicken chili mix by mc cormick - you know, in the same aisle with taco mixes and gravy mixes) pm me and I'll send you some...I know I can't always find them...so when I do I buy like 20

I don't follow the directions on the packet tho - I use 2 packets to a whole chicken, and mix it up some! I'm a "crock pot cooking enabler" - but it's my favorite kinda meal...set it and forget it

uhhh Thank you for the offer. Sunday is my shopping day so I will check it out. I LOVE the McCormick spices!

this is black and white. NO, 4 year old is not too old for meat. It may not be ideal, but meat is meat.
