is 75% humidity on lockdown too high??

I would have a shot of whiskey technodoll!!!!

I go into lockdown this afternoon and havn't decided WHAT to do yet. Think I'll just have them hatch on the wire but you said their feet can get caught??? Mine are tiny bantams...

mine are tiny showgirls and they're on day 12. i'm gonna put the rubbery stuff on the floor of the bator just to be on the safe side. i would HATE to see a chick in distress with his foot caught somehow and i couldn't open the bator to help him. i'm glad i'm reading about all these experiences so i'll know what to do. i'm definitely using sponges in the baby food containers. sounds like a great idea.

If you incubate dry(days1-18) then 75% is fine for the last 3 days but if you run it above 40% the the first 18 days then 75% for the last 3 days may be a bit high.

I use no water the first 18 an about 75% humidity the last 3.

I think you did the right thing in getting the wet stuff out of the incubator. Humidity increases when the surface area of the water increases.
wet egg cartons and other stuff increases surface are by a huge amount. Not the best of conditions but you did what you had to do.
It is also early in lock down so the eggs have maximum time to recover from any shill or dehydration. In fact a little dehydration might not be a bad thing. Like I said I think it was a good call and wishing you luck.

Hmm now it seems stuck at 60%, and I've added plenty of water in the trays... should I add more?

Or would 60% be OK?

Humidity the first 18 days hovered between 35 and 50%...

I've had to quickly lift the cover a couple more times to add water (up to 63% humidity now, woohoo!) but it didn't seem to affect the temperature... stable at around 100 to 101F... I figure mama hen is never perfect either so these babies will either hatch or they won't, not much I can do about it now at this point except hope and pray!

i wanted to dry hatch too.....but the humidity was CRAZY low.....i'm talkin' like 6%!! so i've been adding a touch of water here and there and keeping my humidity around 28 - 45% i don't freak out about the humidity now. but i'm sure when i go into lockdown i will! i'm on day 13 now. it's gettin' closer!

I stopped checking humidity in my main incubator but it use to run at 14% but I think that may have been as far as my tester would read. Saw it there alot but never below that.
