I’m sorry you lost your chickI just thank you all for your opinions and advice.
A lot of people say no to heat sources in the coop because they need to acclimate to the temperatures. If you have a heat source and the power trips or if the heat stops working they’ll be 10x colder.most people say ducks/chickens don’t NEED heat but they are definitely 100% happier and more comfortable with it. mine will play in the snow and stay outside for a bit in the winter but are always happy to come back in and warm up.

Yes that too, unfortunatelyAnd possibly even die.
That's what makes you feel good. Not what's best for the birds imo.most people say ducks/chickens don’t NEED heat but they are definitely 100% happier and more comfortable with it. mine will play in the snow and stay outside for a bit in the winter but are always happy to come back in and warm up.
Agreed. I even was thinking about putting a heating pad in the coop and I decided not to because they have down feathers that keep them warm. Although as humans we like to walk into a warm house after being cold outside, it’s not ideal for birdsThat's what makes you feel good. Not what's best for the birds imo.
Also adding heat to your coop will increase moisture in the air and that is what causes frostbite.Agreed. Much worse than them being a little chilly.
