Is a window enough ventilation for a 3x4 coop?

Kinda depends on how big the window is, how many chickens are housed in it, placement of the window etc. Also, the ventilation isn't necessarily all about temperature, it's partly being able to vent out the ammonia from droppings and keeping bedding dry. We would need a bit more info 😉

Okay, so my coop is very small, but I have connected two, both 3x4's that will hold 10 chickens. Both have a window that is fairly big. The first one has a window that is about 1x1, the other one is about 3x1 and it can open. When you open it there is a screen. There are no ventilation holes so I'll probably have to make some if they are necessary. Also, they are like 4 feet tall so pretty short.

Thank you!

You can drill holes or you can cut a long and skinny window. If you do the long window for ventilation just cover the opening with wire to predator proof it.

Our coop is large so we made a window large enough for me to hang a fan in. It works great as it can be opened a little in cooler weather or all the way when it’s hot out.
We are considering making an entire wall open in our new coop with a custom sliding barn door to open and close as needed.
