Is an age gap a problem?

I've left my bantams and larger chicks together no matter what the age. As long as their age difference was under a month, they lived together peacefully!

I'm glad I found this thread as I have the same question. I am getting 2 chicks tomorrow, one is 3 weeks old and the other is only 3 days old. I hope the big girl is gentle with her new little sister!

They should be fine together just keep an eye on them

The little ones will be getting the zoomies soon as well. I know it looks rough but the tramplings are unlikely to cause any real harm. They will sound out in surprise or annoyance but they probably aren't being hurt. Give them all the room you can and maybe a shoebox with holes in it to break up the space and provide a hideout. I didn't have bantams but was able to mix ages by 3 weeks by doing that.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I have a similar question. I have 3 chicks coming on Saturday then 10 more coming on April 22nd. Will this pose a problem? This is my first adventure with chicks as well. I don't want to mess anything up. You all seem to have such great advise!!

Last year I had a real mix of ages in my 10 chicks. Some tiny day olds and one that looked....very big, at least a few weeks old. I kept them all together. At one point the small chicks would sometimes hide under the larger chick, as if it was their mother!
