Is anyone else getting really scared?

Henspa, there are plenty of these facts on the internet about both candidates. There are no sources for a vast majority of it... that's because it's hearsay, or assumptions or taken out of context. This is for both candidates. Do some research before you get all fired up about it. I can hear your flag flapping all the way over here. Also, the racist remarks about Muslims and middle east countries is rediculous. The "middle east" attached to something doesn't make it bad. Just as "muslim" doesn't either. WHAT IF Obama was muslim? What if he was gay? What if he was black? (Oh yeah, some people have gotten over that part already) There are more black people in prison than any other race... Obama is half black... he must be a criminal, yes? Half a criminal? All the most famous serial killers have been white. Might he be half a serial killer? Say it isn't so!! Clearly "different" means bad to too many people. There are just as many "Christians" that have done just as bad. (ever heard of the holocaust?) You don't like it because it's aimed at the USA. I understand that. Did you take the time to look at why people ALL OVER THE PLANET don't like America? "Cuz they hate our freedom?" riiight. We've been persecuting folks all around the globe for decades and now people are FINALLY fighting back. Am i happy that 9/11 happened, of course not. 9/11 effected my family DIRECTLY. Am i surprised that it happened? Not in the slightest. Do some research using something other than the John McCain campaign adds or the FOX website. Try traveling to another country...ANY country. See how many evil looks you get for simply being American. I've traveled all over Europe... whenever politics come up, the first thing people want to know is "all americans aren't like everyone thinks they are... are they?" I had to convince them that we're not ALL fat, rich, oil guzzling, racists. This all boils down to BAD COMMUNICATION. On everyones part. They don't know about us, we don't know about them because everyone is too scared of everyone else because of something they heard or read once. And since the only media you can really trust comes from other countries, who knows what's true or not in the US? I know you're not going to put one ounce of stock into anything i've said and that's fine. I feel better saying something here, rather than having people even partially believe all that narrow minded, one sided, rhetoric you've copied and pasted for us all.

I backpacked around Europe for several months on roughly $500 dollars, in 1991. I had attended school there for a year on an exchange program after high school. My parents paid for the program (I was living with a family but they got a monthly food and board check); my trip was paid for with money I saved working through high school at two jobs. I stayed with friends and relatives along the way. It is possible to do.

I am not Christian, but I do believe in God, and pray for guidance to make the best decisions possible in my life. It is up to me, us, to take the actions.

I am seeing there is a lot of opportunity to get back to a life more in harmony with the natural world, and each other, and less wrapped up around shiny objects.

WOW. Thanks again for allowing me to share my concerns in an open, non-aggressive forum, fatguyaz. And I never said I was all hip on McCaine. I just said that Obama concerned me for these reasons. As far as the racist comment, I would have had the same associative concerns for any color man.

Henspa - I was just trying to point out that just because someone is from the Middle East/India/Pakistan does not mean they're a terrorist.

Henspay If you want to do yourself a favor Wikipedia John McCain too. the things I have read about him are nothing to brag about either. The country should start a new party and vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE. That is what I plan to do.

(sigh) "do myself a favor"? Is that necessary, really?

Again, I never said I was all bright & shiny about McCain either. I was listing my concerns specifically re: Obama. Can we all please try not to be so undercutting in our remarks, please? We don't have to agree. But respect is nice.
