Is anyone else going to have a hatch on Dec. 30th?

I have a suspicion that when I received them some of there were more advanced than others. I still have only 2 pips out of the 6 remaining eggs. And they are peeping. I think we are going to go to some banks here in a little bit so I can get my nose off of the bator. I did get some rest this morning. I slept for a few hours. My only concern was that they were going to get burned from the heating element. When this one was born is just went nuts and was standing on the other eggs and looked to me like it burnt it's head a few times.

Guess I'm just a paranoid first time mommy.

Aw, I'm sure they'll be fine.

I think hatching makes all of us worried chickie moms.

My first 2 chicks are out..just hatched! I have 1 white orpington and 1 black araucana hatched so far.

Congrats on everyone's chicks so far and Happy New Year!

When I last checked on mine last night I had 11 hatched - 6 white orps and 5 araucana. I'll check on them in a bit, after I have my morning dose of coffee.

I moved my biddies over to the brooder and checked the last 3 araucana eggs (no pips on those, so maybe they weren't even growing..too hard to see in them). Anyways, final result: all 10 white orp eggs hatched, 11 out of 14 araucana (5 lavender and 6 black chicks). I am really happy with this since it was a last minute decision to throw in a last batch of eggs for the year. Here are some pics:

How is everyone else doing?

Well I have a total of 6 chicks that hatched. 4 was back to back last night at about 3am.

1 egg still hasn't pipd and I don't know what to think about that.

But I have 4 buff orpingtons and 2 unknowns.

I know for sure they are buff orpingtons because the woman that had given my my roo said that she hatched him from her own flock.

They are all doing good. Except on the the black/brown/white/blue chicks. It needs a boot because it has crooked toes.

So started out with 8. One died in it's shell (breech) 6 hatched, and one is being lazy I think. I think if it doesn't pip by tonight I'm going to go ahead and candle it to see if it's moving.
