Pat:

Change the oil. Like now. Pull the filter and cut it open. You're looking for glitter. That sounds like top end knock. Lifter or pushrod. I hope. Have you ever dropped the pan and looked at the pump pickup screen to make sure it's not clogged? May be time. Low oil pressure and that clatter sure sounds like oil starvation to me, and if you don't address it NOW you're going to eat that engine.

There's work in this to chase it down, but the time and money to do it now will be less than a rebuild.
So I finally was able to do a oil change the other day cut open the oil filter there was no “glitter” after changing the oil I idled it for a couple minutes oil pressure goes to normal for 30-45 seconds then it drops and it also smokes on the left side of the engine bay I’m thinking a worn seal or blown gasket or just a leak I have a mechanic friend coming over in a little bit to look at it I’m thinking he’ll say the same thing.

Thinking about going and getting one of those I’ve dye and black light kits from an auto part store to see if I can identify where the leak is coming from.

Smoking in the engine bay is prolly valve cover gasket leak on that side. Smoking from exhaust is rings or valve seat. If there's no glitter, could be the oil pump is weak, the pickup tube in the pan is partially blocked, or it's just worn out. You can see if a heavier weight oil helps pressure, but that's a short term fix

Yeah my friend thinks the smoking is an exhaust leak and the tapping sound is a lazy lifter and said it’s fine to drive the low oil pressure is the oil pressure sensor is bad.

We’ll probably end up swapping the engine anyways sometime soon.

Not sure why this thread popped up in my alerts. Guess I'll share my sporty but non race cars from back in the 70's.
Pantera and Trans Am. 6.6.
Can't see much of the Pantera. Brothers, sister and myself in front of it. Me in the blue shirt.

Changed the trucks spark plugs I have a feeling they have not been changed in a really long time. And this spark plug was not the worst of the 8.

And then when I started it up it sounded great then somehow the radiator hose had a hole in it ordered a new one and I’ll put it in first thing tomorrow I’m thinking the hose got pushed into the fan or belt.

It sure is!
Ours is all stripped out,and has a full roll cage, new seats and belts.
There's a lot of regulations to comply with, to keep everyone safe.
We've only done one rally so far, which was a two day event; and there a couple of one day events coming up, so it's getting exciting!
At the moment, we are one of the slowest cars (due to lack of experience) but hopping to improve that.
I LOVE RALLYEEEE!
Like seriously I do.
