Is anyone else interested in cars and motorsport?

King of the hammers is an event in Johnson Valley, California. All sorts of types of off road racing most of them have the ability to climb rocks but they also have pre runner trucks, buggies, razors, and there's every man's race, ultra 4, like the Mint 400. It's 2 weeks long now. Everyone brings their toys. It goes from an empty desert to 60,000+ spectators camping and riding everywhere. Check out the shootout at the back door 2016 or at chocolate thunder. My favorite event.
If I didn’t mind enough dirt in my drink, that’s where I’d go to party. 🤣

Well...we are home again, and the car is in one piece, we finished, and had a lot of fun!
Not the fastest, as we really wanted to finish, rather the risk pushing too hard.
Two stages got cancelled, as there was a bad accident, with a crew being airlifted to hospital, so our thoughts are with them in the moment.

Hey. "Car in one piece" is often a win in its own right. Glad you guys had fun!
Yep!
Hardly a scratch on it.
Lots of dust in it though, as we caught up a car mind stage, and the dust was horrendous! Had to stop and wait for it to clear, it was that bad. They did let us past eventually, but we would have lost around 2min, I think.
Apparently, another car caught them up later on, and they didn't let them past, which is against the rules, as the faster car has right of way; there was a good bit of grumbling going in on!
I know that they put in an complaint, so may get their time given back to them. We didn't bother about.

Been to SEMA and PRI more times than I cared to.

Played with sledpullers and 1/4 mile trucks. (12-2200 horsepower ford/Chevy/dodge pickups)

Last hobby was setting up a 99 beetle with long travel suspension and 31’s. Was going to fully cage it and rally it. Ended up repurposing the car and never started another one. It was a diesel too.

Here's the first stage.
Not the best, we hadn't warmed up yet, and then we got a lot of dust; if you watch it to the end you can see just how bad it was.
The speed is in the bottom left side of the video. (in km/h)
I thought you might like to see what the roads look like around there.
Yeah the dust sucked!

That sounds like it would have been a lot of fun!
