I know the best thing to do is to NOT OPEN THE INCUBATOR - but my first chick hatched at 9:00 last night and it has now been 24 hours. There are 15 chicks which have hatched, one with a foot out but not fully zipped, and another getting ready. There are also 6 which haven't done anything or have just pipped.
Since it has been 24 hours for the first guy, I figured it best to get him out, in the brooder with water and feed. SO - I did - as quickly as possible - grab the 15, add a bit of water to the bator and closed it back up.
?????
I hope it was the best thing to do. It didn't seem safe to keep everyone away from water when it had already been a day, but obviously, I really, really hope the rest are okay!
Cute little buggers!!! I just went out to check on the ones in the brooder and there was a little, tiny beetle scurrying across the floor in the brooder. AMAZING! Those little chicks were on him like white on rice!! LOL!
