Is ANYONE having flea problems besides me ?

Hm. Our vet, I do not belive carries a very wide selection of frontline.

We may order it online. I wonder if vets do special orders?

I know!!! Oh my goodness!
Ours have been on Frontline plus, all last year for Rosie, and since I got my puppy for him...
In January I noticed the first flea on him.. just one.. and thats whe he started scratching like crazy.. turns out he has a bad flea allergy, so only one flea and one bite will start off a whole chain reaction... I've had to use steroid pills the vet gave me.... now its only getting worse as it gets warmer!
To top it all off, they do seem to have a reaction to the Frontline.... they jump off and look for new food... and that would be me! Wahhhh!

I'm ordering the other flea drops... bt in the meantime I'm going crazy!

Ps - Scissor... we get ours off Petmeds... the one Im switching too instead of Frontline is supposed to be the better one... but you have to have a prescription from the vet.. Im just going to call mine and see about it since Squishy has been in recently.. maybe you can too?

One word - Comfortis. At least until the fleas develop an immunity to it, which I'm sure they will at some point.

Comfortis?
I wish I could do the vaccum thing, but ours is on its last legs and I've been put on vaccum rations... plus with the borax.. my puppy lays and plays all over the carpet all the time, never just in his bed.. so I dont know I would feel safe enough about that. But still, that was a great article, Laura, Thanks for posting it!

Comfortis is a tablet, given once a month. Works in 30 minutes or less. Our picky boys gobble em right up. It's not cheap - here it's $12 a tablet, X2 for both dogs, but to me it's worth it because there's not many things I hate worse than dealing with fleas.

I can assure you that Borax is FAR less toxic than the concentrated chemicals that we all put on their necks. It's a dry powder also, as long as you vacuum it up, it's perfectly safe and is a more eco-friendly alternative to professional chemicals. I've been doing this for 20 years on my own pets. I certainly would not recommend it if it wasn't a safe option. That being said, obviously you VACUUM it up, you don't leave it for the pet to lay in.

LOL.. Ok.. Thank you!
I'll have to get some then

even though I'll only be able to use it on my once-a-week vaccum allotment

Weekly vacuuming is good for preventative measures; but if you have fleas and are trying to get rid of them, that won't be as effective. The pupa is the last stage before adult. The adult flea can emerge from the cocoon as early as 3 to 5 days, so daily vacuuming is ideal in order to break the reproductive cycle.

Borax also kills ants, blocks their entry into the house. We use in the front of the house and the garage and it works wonders and it's cheap.
