Thanks for posting!I emailed them about that a couple days ago and received this response.
Thank you for the email. It is always best to let us know if
you have any questions.
We do not offer the control at this time. We felt that it was not
needed. The temp. of the large
plate will run between 115-125. This will feel hot to the touch if
you leave your hand on the plate but it will not hurt the birds. If
it is too hot for them they will move away. That will be a good time
to raise the plate higher above the floor.
Thanks...that explains the 'feel' of it...now only time will tell how it works for chickies.I emailed them about that a couple days ago and received this response.

Chicks get up to find cooler areas of the brooder, and lie down wherever the heat source is. Enough space to walk and exercise legs, proper nutrition, avoiding slick surfaces such as newspaper on flooring, keeping droppings cleaned up, and clean air quality ensure healthy development. The heated plate won't ensure that anymore than a brooder lamp. Thanks for posting!
The Brinsea works similarly--The chicks push up into it to get warm and then move away from the heater plate. This is good for their leg development.
