I hope everything works out for you. Chickens can be real weird about integrating new members. So far I have lucked out and not had any really major issues with integrating new flock members.

Hi! I just wanted to thank everyone for their replies and provide an update!
I kept the rooster locked up for a couple more months and I also managed to find someone who was selling laying hens close to Birdy's age. I think waiting the few months really did the trick! The next time they were introduced he was a total gentleman! :wee
In fact I actually think Birdy is probably his favorite now :p I don't see her more than 5 feet away from him at any time!

He doesn't attack any of the hens anymore and he comes running to defend them whenever their little feathers get ruffled. In fact he's actually become a LOT nicer since he's matured!
I am EXTREMELY glad I didn't get rid of him. He's an awesome Rooster and I'm looking forward to seeing his babies next year!

Great news! I knew he'd calm down but most people don't have the patience to wait out the teenage hormones phase. Be forewarned- he may get frisky in the spring if the hens took a break on laying right about when they come back online. It will pass and they will give home some constructive feedback along the way :)
