Corn does not have a magical ability to increase body temperature.

Whats it been, about 2 maybe 3 month since the, "Corn will keep a chicken warm during cold"?

To my knowledge Chlorophyll doesn't make egg yolks darker it is the chemicals called carotenoids that are found in plants.

Chlorophyll is a green pigment found in most plants and is what allows plants to obtain energy from sunlight.

Chris

Chloroplasts, the photosynthetic organ responsible for photosynthesis in plant cells, contain chlorophyll and carotenoids. Chlorophyll and carotenoids are pigments and both cause yolks to turn darker.

If Monsanto's greed and corruption spans the globe, show me one example of their greed and one example of their corruption. Words are easy to toss around, but Monsanto is a stand up company with honorable folks running it. They are out to make a profit, but they do it in a responsible manor.

My family too has farmed for generations on the same land. Saving seed corn from last years crop went by the way side before I was born. Sure you can do it, but you are never sure what you will end up with, plus over time your crop is highly susceptible to disease and bugs. There are plenty of hybrid seed companies to buy from, no one makes Gramps buy from Monsanto or any one else for that matter. It is a matter of yield to cost. Seed companies don't just invent a seed, sell it and sit back and make money off the backs of hard working farmers. They spend millions on R & D, perfect a product that increases yield and decreases labor, fuel, and chemical costs. They enable farmers to raise enough crops to feed the world and still make a profit.

As I stated previously, the advances made by companies like Monsanto and Pioneer would be awarded humanitarian praises if they were made in medicine, but because they are a large chemical, non union company, they are a huge target.

Chloroplasts is simply a typical 3 membrane plant cell and yes it is responsible for photosynthesis.

Chlorophyll,
Chlorophyll carries only a green pigmentation
- Captures sunlight for photosynthesis in order to produce simple sugars needed for the growth and development.
- This particular pigment is constantly being used up and replaced in the photosynthesis process.
- As it absorbs light, chlorophyll supplies energy used by plants to transform carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and carbohydrates. - Low temperatures destroy chlorophyll and promote formation of anthoncyanins.

Carotenoids,
- Carotenoids carry yellow, orange and brown pigments.
- They are apparent in carrots, bananas and egg yolk.
- This pigment is often found in chloroplast and aids in the process of photosynthesis.

My freind it is not the "magical ingredient" that keeps them warm it is but the increased effort which equals friction which equals heat in the gizzard that a ground up pelletized food does not produce, which coincidentally is why a good meal warms up a person, you know increased digestion plus increased blood flow equals heat.

Montesano has helped tremendously in the prevention of starvation and yes help keep feed prices affordable to BYCers.
One problem we have in my area is an organic farmer buys 5 acres out in the middle of a large corperate farming area and then wants to stop a large farming operation because of cross contamination issues based on junk political motivated sciencetific theories that somehow tell you their seed is bad and my seed is good. Organic methods are expensive otherwise we would all be doing it...period.

Most people do not realize the "hidden" benefits that they enjoy every day from private innovation. Does penicillin ring a bell?

First, I Never said I was a, "Ph.D"

Second, I Never said that Alfalfa didn't turn egg yolk a darker Orange.

What I did say is, Chlorophyll did not turn egg yolk a darker Orange and that it was the Carotenoids like beta-carotene that made egg yolk a darker Orange.
Alfalfa can change the color of the egg yolk to a darker Orange because of the Carotenoids that is in the Chlorophyll.

My mistake... about the PhD. I do remember in kindergarten mixing colors in an egg carton of all things, yellow and green and getting a color resembling orange.
