Hi, this morning I heard a muted cockadoddledoo, Bert my handsome lad does his very loud,

I rescued dorothy and bert from the vets a week ago and are coming back to health with me and was going to get bert some more wives in a few weeks but it appears his wife he was found at the roadside is in fact a boy too?
Can i upload a vid of her?
Is dorothy a young cockeral?

do you live close to another farm it could be another rooster somewhere else i don't think she is a rooster seeing as how affectionate they are I could be wrong do you have any better pictures for your profile pic? that would really help but i did once have to roosters i thought one was a hen for a long time but they were pretty close to each other because one had the loudest crow ever and the other on was a bantam he had a really small crow so they never fought knowing which one was better

I wonder if she is just impersonating Bert?
About 3 or 4 miles away is another cockeral, could it be last night my dog spooked dorothy and bert was already snuggled up in the roost for the night?

If I do introduce hens in a couple of weeks do you think it will be a bad idea as these two are so close?

It doesn't matter. If they are friends, just keep them both! You can still get hens, and the two cockerels will just work out the pecking order. Although several hens per rooster is ideal, it does not have to be that way, especially if they have enough room to spread out some.

Thankyou, they snuggled up toghether last night, just having them has enriched our lives so lets hope they carry on getting on so well, and when I get some wives for them lol, I have the space luckily
