Is everyone ready for beautiful fall weather?

Oooohhhh.... yeah we usually don't have to use our heater during the winter. I have it turn on about a half hour before I get up and turn off when I leave for work but we use our fireplace at night. Not only that, but we drain our pool during the winter. It makes the electric bill much more managable.

August 24th, and we have a frost advisory for tonight. Good thing I got those garden quilts this month... We had a bunch of tomatoes on our one plant, but none have even thought about turning red yet.

I forgot to add an update the other day... Woke up to 34° degrees Monday morning. No frost at my place, but I've heard from a few people who did have some a few towns over. Yeah, Global Warming!

I am so ready for fall I am nearly jumping the gun. I am itching for mid september when I can start putting out my fall wreaths and things!

I'm ready!!! Bring it on!! I want to turn off the air conditioner and open the windows and hear my roosters first crows!!
Although summer seemed to go by so fast.. And this time of year goes even faster with all the holidays to look forward to.
and then winter comes.. and the time doesnt go fast.

But back to autumn...
Oh, pretty falling leaves that always take me back to my childhood. The thrill we got from a pile of leaves. This year, I'll see if my chickens like piles of leaves.
I love waking in the morning to fresh air that is crisp and cool. Not wanting to get out of a warm bed...
yet.. theres something envigorating about cool air after a long hot summer.

Yummm, apples..

and pumpkins.. Hmm.. Chicken lady gave me an idea.. we should have a BYC pumpkin carving contest! Wouldn't that be cool?

I live in Mass..and fall used to be my favorite time of year also!...but since i have chickens this year..i'm worried too death about how they will get through the winter!...i cant imagine them being outside with no heat in the middle of winter...

..so i'm stressing on that!!...but..what i DO love about fall is when we get a good Indian Summer for a few days!!...the leaves on the Mohawk Trail are Beautiful!..the smell of woodsmoke....apple picking...hayrides...*sigh*..i guess fall is still my favorite time of year...

Fall... seems so far away. It'll be 2 more months before it gets here.
Fall for me is having the windows open & hearing the Canadian geese landing in the fields out back. Thousands of them,we should get a great view of them this year. The farmers grew rice behind us & they usually leave the fields for the geese to go thru.
Oh how could I forget, lol. NO more mosquitos !!!!

You need a wood burning stove.
