is found egg safe to eat? (help to resolve a 'discussion')

Hello all,

Doing some maintenance yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, I discovered a hidden egg. I washed it, put it in the frig, but my dear wife objected, claiming it could be spoiled.

I checked the coop Friday morning, so the egg spent only a couple days tucked into the corner. Our temperatures have been very mild and cool, with a max. in the low 70s on Sunday.

Put it in a bowl of water. If it floats it is bad. Even if it is good (and it should be unless it had been hidden for awhile) you can break it in a bowl before using to be on the safe side.
In US we refrigerate eggs but most countries do not. They can stay at room temperature for weeks not days and still be good.
