It depends what you mean... Yes, he is old enough to fertilize a hen. Is that what you were wondering?

If he's breeding them, he's most likely fertilizing the eggs. Have you checked your eggs for fertility? The question is: are the eggs pullet eggs, or are they good sized????

Not saying this is factual just personal experience but I've found its good for the fella to be at least a year old before you get chicks off him. Younger seems to make quite a few more special babies.

Not arguing, but physiologically, this does not compute for me. Wonder if you are seeing something else in play here? Perhaps time of year as it relates to bird nutrition and egg quality, or even age of pullet or hen. I would think that an OLDER roo might have decreased sperm quality.

My Cockerel bred my Pullets, all were 8 to 9 months old and I raised quality Chicks since Christmas...

Y'all are misunderstanding me. Not physically flawed just a couple crayons short of a box. May have been just a wet match male to begin with. All I know is that particular brood acted more like turkey chicks than chicken.
