Is he old enough to make baby chickens yet?

Not saying this is factual just personal experience but I've found its good for the fella to be at least a year old before you get chicks off him. Younger seems to make quite a few more special babies.

Not arguing, but physiologically, this does not compute for me. Wonder if you are seeing something else in play here? Perhaps time of year as it relates to bird nutrition and egg quality, or even age of pullet or hen. I would think that an OLDER roo might have decreased sperm quality.
