I'm at a cross road I'm either going to have to raise the pice on my bearded silkies or start buying cheaper food I sell them for $5 but i see plenty of people selling for $10 my silkies are good Quality. I feed all my chickens Kalmbach feed.

What is the cost on the feed you're feeding now?

Maybe an experiment splitting your flock and feeding a different feed for a few weeks to see if you notice any difference?

Guess it depends on what you consider quality feed.
I also know higher price doesn't equal higher quality.
I don't do fancy organic or anything like that because I can't justify those prices.
As for my feed I debated about going a feed mill route because it was cheaper. Many told me it was cheaper because it was less quality and had less quality control. I found someone that had some knowledge about feeds and got their opinion on the label content. They said it looked pretty good but was a tad high on calcium. We both figured that may not be a big issue since a raise leghorns and they lay a lot.
I tried it out and my birds ate less and did better on it. Combined with the savings I've never looked back.

I pay $35 dollars for 50 lbs. I buy healthy feed because I breed silkie so I want healthy hens to make healthy chicks and kalmbach stater feed is not dust like some I have gotten from other brands. It allso has prebiotics, probiotics, essential oils and digestive enzymes.

Kalmbach should be around $18-$20 per bag. Not sure where you’re getting it from but you should be able to find a local source for feed.
