Sorry i havent been on for a while, yesterday i was on and i had started replying but the power went off, like it does all the time in the summer because everybody is wasting everything.
I laugh to when i think of me crawling through all of it, but when i am actually doing it i get very cramby.
I am thinking of destroying all the nests that they have made and making some nice, easy to get to nests, so that they have no place to lay the eggs other than there.
I just have a small shovel to clean it with, i crawl under there and just start shovelling poop up, when i am done i wash it out with water and then i have to start all over again a week later, i dont mind it that much, it is actually kind of fun because i dont get to spend much time with them over the summer so that is basically my chicken time because i am in there for like an hour.
I use braches to, yesterday i went and got some more from outside and threw the old ones away, they dont poop so much on the braches as they do on the floor under the braches, even my two little chicks, i cleaned their cage out today and there was sooo much poop under their roost!
I dont mind sifting dirt so much when it is not windy, but when it is windy and the sand blows in my eyes ugh i cant even stay out there for ten minutes.
Haha that would be fun if i made like a chicken habitat, the tourist would stop to take pictures, can you imagine.
Did you see how the chick got up yet, mine jump very far so i wouldnt be surprised if that is how he got up, if you didnt catch him again, try taking him down and then pretending to leave so you can see how he gets up, i am really curious.
Yeah, i am lucky, i can get away from people i dont like when ever i want with some lame excuses.
I hate fleas sooo much, that is why i am so careful with the dogs, especially Roxy because she is in the house, i couldnt imagine someone bringing their flea ridden dog into MY house when i tell them not to.
Yeah that is a very good idea, is Buddy friendly around other dogs?
She sounds like such a delight (
) the kids are from different fathers, how many does she have?
Make sure they dont hang around Emma and Evie to much.
I dont really believe in ghosts but i would love to hear some stories!
Well my post is going to be a mile long because i have some bad news and some good news, bad news first.
Bad news: So i was outside, collecting the eggs, feeding the chickens when i realize my hen with the 5 older chicks is gone (btw one of the seven oldest ones was killed by something, dont know what just found it dead out of its cage and another one got out of the cage and went to the hen with the five chicks and she took it as her own, so basically she has six chicks now) so i go looking for my hen and eventually i found her in the field scratching around so i collect them and put them back in their cage when i notice it is getting a bit small for them, i think the mom will leave them soon because they are a month and a half old, i am thinking of putting them and the 5 oldest ones together but i dont have a pen that is big enough for all of them so i have a nice little "space" for them but it is soooo dirty, so yesteday i decided to clean it out and today i have to make a cover for it because it is open and they can jump out. To get an idea this "space" has a little inside room and then a little outside room, i put a couple of roosts in the inside room and i am going to have their food and water in the outside room, so well i was doing all of that i hear peeping so i go out to check and i see two of the oldest chicks fighting so i separate them and i see one has blood driping out of its eye, i go inside and clean it and then make a little area for him so they dont keep pecking him, today i went to check on him and he still has his eye (phew) i think that is how the other chick lost its eye, oh and one of the 6 younger ones lost its eye to.
Good news: I thought my chick season was over because it is to hot for any hen to be broody and i didnt get the incubator set like i wanted because i used that money on some more wire for the chicks that i do have so i was a bit sad, when all of a sudden, can you guess the rest, it is like i story that i have told before. Ok i will tell you, i hear peeping so i follow it to my fig tree, not the one that i found my other hen in, another one that is even bigger (
) so i start looking for the chicks well i found them, there are six, five black ones and one yellow one, she is balck so she must have layed all the eggs on her own and i have a white rooster that i lost a while ago so i think i now where he is, i really have to get rid of those fig trees... I didnt manage to catch her because she dissapeared into the fig tree so i am going to go in the afternoon. I wonder how many chickens are out of the pen and laying eggs because they have lots of chicks. The mom of these chicks is Clucker and Peeps mom to, she is a really good mom! I guess i have to build another coop...
I have no idea how they are all getting out of their coops, there must be a hole or something, i will go check today, tomorrow i will see if i can get some workers to cut back my fig trees and see how many chickens are hiding there...
