Is incubation time for eggs the same when they're under a broody hen as when they're in an incubator

Ok now Im going to go on again. I just went out to let everyone out and the last polish chick was dead. Ive lost all 4 of them this week and after the others, Im just feeling so defeated you know? Jim said its probably the season changing, and the night getting chilly but I just dont know. I feel like giving up. I wont of course, never, but I just feel that way. And now something else has come up and weve been talking about having to move. Ugh, Im just a tied up and dont know what were going to do. When it rains it pours. The problem isnt finding a place, its finding a place we can afford that has a house and land-so I can keep all my animals, thats a MUST-and finding something that has jobs nearby. Sigh. Anyway Im in a quandary and losing my babies hasnt helped. Its just made me feel worse. But, enough of that, Im sure things will find a way of working out for the best. Or for the better at least. Moving will be a good reason to build a brand new coop! Thats a plus anyway! I know itd be nice to have running water again too! So fingers crossed! No more lost chicks and a new place! You know what Im worried about if we do have to move? How am I going to take all my plants with me??? Animals and people are easy to move but plants...Ive been collecting them for years and I use them, itd take years just to replace them all!
Ok Ive vented! Thanks again for always listening! Im glad we have so much in common that you always understand! :)

20-21 days usually.

I have had broodies hatch bantams along with standards at the same time and they did not take any longer. I would agree and candle them and placing the broody in the brooder is a good idea too.

Sometimes they will sit on eggs that are not fertile

My two girls sat on eggs this summer. The little brown one pecked at the chicks so I removed her and put her on a nest of golf balls. Eventually the broody wore off - the other was a wonderful mother.

Yeah, i agree with you about the coops, but it works out to 200 euro for the 4 bird one and 160 for the 2 bird one, the 2 bird one is BEAUTIFUL in grey but it does look quite small, i just need to decide soon so that i can move them out of that little cop, they dont get any sun and it is really hot and stuffy in there, their feathers look really greasy...
I definietly need two so i think i just might get two of the smaller ones, i dont know, it is a really hard decision, i only want the best for them but i only have a certain amount of money that i can spend on chickens! :p
I will have to think about it some more... :p
I looked at the measurments, and they are both quite small...
Ok, now for pictures, i will send them in another post but i do have some, i dont have a video YET but i am trying to get one, everyday when i hear them crowing, i run outside with my camera but when they see me they stop...
Great news, i went to get more chicken food but the place i usually go to was closed so i had to find another place because i had run out of food on Sunday, i thought i had another full bin but turns out it was empty... so anyway, i found a new place and they sell the feed for soooo much cheaper, sooo much!
The other place i had to pay 25 euro for a thirty kilo bag and at this one i only had to pay 15 for a 40 kilo bag, man the things that us chicken ladies get excited about! :p
Oh no that is so sad, oh and i was having a happy day today, i can tell you need a hug and a dog is the one to turn to, go on, go give Rinty a BIG hug! ;)
You have to move????
Why??
Thats terrible, how are you going to move all of your chickens and your plants, oh i cant imagine how you feel right now, you need another hug, go hug Rinty again, i am serious, i always hug Balto when i am sad! :)
No problem, i am always ears, especially when something this big is happening, we do have A LOT in common! :D
Now for pictures, wait one sec! :D

I cant believe theyve grown so much so quick! They sure have turned out handsome! I like your patio and flowers in the background, looks nice and summery! Perfect background for chicken pics! :)
Lol, I laughed when I read bout the deal you got on the chicken food! Ive gotten just as excited about that exact thing! We went to a new farm store a few weeks ago and their layer feed was like 6 bucks cheaper than what Ive been getting and I went on about it for like an hour :)
Wait Ill be right back, Im goingbto look at the coop pics again. Im wondering if the fence part comes with it or is it just the coop?

Ok, Im back. They do come with the fence. If your thinking of getting 2, Id definitely go with the cheaper. You could set them together and then they would have twice the space, but if you ever needed to split them itd be easy to do. And that second would come in handy whenever you needed to contain any future chicks. I like it in the grey color too, would look good with some bright flowers planted around it!

Why thank you, I planted those trees a long time ago and they finally grew!
Hey, that's a good idea, I can attach them both, see that is why we talk so much!:p
Oh yeah, it would, maybe some purple or orange...
Well, have to go feed everyone before I go to work so I will talk to you later!
I might get a couple of puks of the rest of the flock! :)

Well I decided that both those coops would just attract mites and well then I would ave to throw them out, so instead I am going to go with something a bit cheaper, so I was thinking, maybe something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kerbl-82708...&ie=UTF8&qid=1379930528&sr=1-26&keywords=Pens
Not exactly that but something similar, double that size and then I will figure out something for the inside but this s cheaper and a bigger run!
What do you think?

I hadnt thought about mites! I remember reading about a way to kill them tho that doesn't hurt the chickens...you boil orange and lemon peels in water then use the"tea" it makes to spray all the surfaces and nooks and crannies that mites can hide in. Im pretty sure that was all that was in it but I mite be forgetting something. I mite look it up. Anyway, its something to think about if you ever have trouble with mites. I like the idea of that covered pen tho! You know if you think youll have more time coming up soon you could always build your own coop for them. Itd probably be cheaper! You could buy a roll of chicken wire and make a run, then attach a little homemade coop house to it. Plus itd probably be lots of fun to make and youd get exactly what you need! Its really not as hard as it seems, you could make it up in a day or two. I can help you draw up an easy blueprint to follow if you want. If you want to give it a try, call around and find out how much itd run for a roll of wire and see what lumber prices are. If it seems like itd be cheaper to buy the materials instead of something already built we could put our heads together and make up something neat! O! I just thought of an obstacle!Do you have tools??? Youd need a skilsaw, wire cutters, tape measure, and a hammer(if you want to use nails) or a screwdriver(if you want to use screws). If you want to avoid a wood house you could make one from concrete blocks or find a plastic dog house. Or you can buy it already done for you like you planned in the first place! :) I think youd save yourself some money if you made it tho! Let me know what you think!
Ok so now im going to try to post a pic, if it doesnt work ill just tell you what it is!
